Research & Other Interests
My work primarily focuses on Metastasis or the spread of cancer from the primary site to other parts of the body is a silent killer in breast cancer, with 80% mortality rate for women with metastatic disease. Key questions that need to be dealt with include heterogeneity and a detailed understanding of the cells critical for actual metastatic establishment. Therapeutic targeting of metastasis requires a deeper understanding of the metastatic process and our work will directly address key challenges in the field.
Why am I a part of this group?
I strongly feel that women in research have to be supported and enabled to over come deep biases that exist within a very flawed system. To even feel a sense of solifarity and be able to talk to others is often the way forward. I try to do this in an individual capacity in my laoratory by training women scientists and now hope to take it further by being part of a collective.
